Success in Action Webinar Curriculum

MG’s found that webinars are a powerful vehicle for bringing people together. In a today’s business environment, it is often impractical for individuals or cross-functional teams to meet, and yet it is imperative that working relationships are created and trust is formed.  Webinars help create an environment and culture that foster collaboration, cooperation and productivity. Any of the classroom programs can be customized for the webinar environment.

MG’s webinars are known as engaging, interactive, and fun. She carefully crafts each webinar to engage her audience. MG believes that effective webinars are a composite of well-researched facts, storytelling, quizzes, animations, and quotes. Her webinars are designed masterfully to educate, engage, and entertain.

A highlight of the webinar curriculum is a blended learning solution called: “Leadership Principles and Management Skills.”

This program was created for an international high-tech company that had emerging leadership with little or no management training. The program was designed to create a common conversation for how people work together and manage their teams. It provides new managers with a comprehensive and consistent set of management practices and approaches to day-to day management responsibilities. The goal of the program is to build a team of managers who interact effectively with their teams and their internal and external customers; the program is specifically designed to:

1. Increase employee effectiveness, morale, and retention; customer satisfaction; and compliance in all areas

2. Decrease the incidence of employee or customer complaints; conflicts in the workplace; performance problems and poorly-documented performance; and potential exposure to liability.

Leadership Principles and Management Skills Course Descriptions

A blended learning solution that includes a strategic planning session with leadership, a customized day-long, live training session; a seven- part webinar series; and individual coaching sessions. The program is designed for first-line supervisors and managers.

“Great class - lively, very interesting, and informative. I came mostly to get tips and techniques. I left feeling I learned a lot and am empowered to be able to immediately implement what I learned.”
— Marcy S.

Insights into Leadership

This foundational course provides both an introduction to your Leadership Principles and Management Skills series and insights into the components of management and the relationship skills needed to be successful – both as a manager and a leader.  We begin with a leadership quiz based on work done at Harvard University to identify the top ten leadership traits; you’ll be able to identify your existing strengths, as well as your opportunities for development.

Then we’ll explore the world of authentic leadership; you’ll have the opportunity to create your own personal vision of the manager-leader you wish to be.  We’ll explore communication and behavioral styles and how they relate to the five main components of management, ending with a unit on Communication including characteristics of the Charismatic Leader.

Essential Communication Skills

“Essential Communication Skills” explores the art of communication.  Based on leading-edge research, the course covers the basics of communication in an innovative and interesting way.  Participants will discover barriers to communication and become aware of the ‘noise’ that gets in the way of effective communication (especially in challenging or difficult situations.) They will realize the importance of knowing the recipient's communication style and their ability to get a response to critical messages.

Participants will understand the two essential ingredients of verbal and written communication: the “inputs” and “outputs” that make them effective communicators (or not!)  Guaranteed to be fast-paced, interactive, informative and fun, “Essential Communication Skills” is a seminar that will make an immediate and positive impact on your ability to produce results – and advance in your career.

The Power of Recognition

The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more in life there is to celebrate.  ~ Oprah Winfrey

Even in the best situations, we often find ourselves focusing on what’s going wrong and how things aren’t working.  This webinar promotes the idea that building a culture based on recognition and acknowledgment builds successful businesses in which individuals thrive.

Critically important to acknowledgement is knowledge – your knowledge about the person you want to acknowledge and what they value, as well as their knowledge that you value their contributions. Finding the most effective rewards and recognition for each person is not a “one-size-fits-all” process!  This webinar asserts that you can have the employees and work environment you want by designing and delivering the appropriate rewards.

Conducting and Writing Performance Appraisals

Are performance appraisals a necessary evil?  Could they actually be beneficial, or are they only another item on your "to do" list?  Make the appraisal process easy and effective with the 5-step POWER writing process!

P         pre-write – a process for overcoming writer’s block

O         organize and outline

W        write

E         edit

R         revise

Many participants have found that a little more work in the Pre-write and Organize phases saves time in the long run and provides a quick and painless way to write appraisals that get the results you seek.

Winning by Influencing

In today’s competitive business environment, many people play a win/lose game – creating short-term wins that potentially cause long-term losses.  This program creates the view that we have the power to create win/win situations with everyone we work with and influence.  “Winning by Influencing” provides participants a powerful methodology for creating an environment in which people win by effectively influencing others.

Based on the work of her mentor, Andrew Oravets, the webinar begins by looking at the external factors that shape how people communicate and interact.  Participants then look at the “covert intent” underlying people’s behavior.  You’ll begin to understand how people tend to “fix” situations, and gain access to shaping your communication to reach others and produce desired results.

Dealing with Yourself and Others in Difficult Situations

Today's high-stress work environments can bring out the best or the worst in people.  Smart professionals know that yesterday's skills are not adequate for today's demands.  It requires skillful planning to manage ourselves and others in the difficult and unique situations we face.   This course combines conventional wisdom with leading-edge research to empower participants in successfully managing the frenetic and high-risk environments in which we work and play today.

The course is based on the premise that, in dealing with difficult situations, we must first deal with ourselves – our reactions to change and how we manage stress.  When we have managed our own anger, upset, and negativity – we can then deal productively and powerfully with others.  Participants leave with a “MAP” – a management action plan for themselves to continually operate at the highest levels of professionalism and safety in difficult situations and environments.

Giving and Receiving Feedback that Empowers

Do you cringe when you have to give or get feedback?  Do you ever wish there were an easier way, less fraught with the potential for misunderstandings or hurt feelings?  Do you put up with situations because you don’t want to ‘rock the boat’ or offend anyone?

Feedback given incorrectly can destroy morale and cause situations to escalate.  Given correctly, feedback improves team performance and productivity, and relationships prosper.  This webinar takes an innovative look at feedback: it can be used to create a powerful and inspiring future. The webinar begins with a feedback quiz to ascertain your strengths and opportunities for improvement in providing feedback; it looks at contextual intelligence and provides guidelines for working with diverse groups of people.  The webinar provides a seven-step approach and process to use when giving professional feedback.

The webinar also helps participants deal with situations that escalate into conflict and provides insight into constructive and destructive conflict. We’ll learn a process for creating collaboration and partnership in even the most difficult situations.
